September 2006

Last Friday my doctor put me on maternity leave. While maybe I should have been ready for it I found I was not. I really thought that I would probably hang in longer but physically I guess I just could not. I feel like I am having a heart attack with just walking up a short flight of stairs :) The babies however are doing well. I had my first Non stress test (NST) done and both seemed fine. I of course was very stressed. The nurse took an age to find both babies. She found one twin instantly but getting the other hooked up on the heart monitor was another matter. I will be doing an NST every week going foreward….GREAT.

On another note we are finally making good progress wwith unpacking. I hired a really sweet girl to help unpack since I am pretty much not capable of much at the moment. She is plowing through the boxes at an amazing rate. The twins cribbs and changing table arrive next Monday….I can’t wait. I also washed all the babies clothes and kinda packed a bag for the hospital. I am not exactly ready but feel like I am getting there. I also have this feeling that the babies are coming………..

I am happy to say that I donot have late onset GD…..yeah. That would have sucked ! (Jeff’s note… GD is Gestational Diabetes or as they say in South Africa… Sugar!)

Here’s a slide show of our house before and after the movers came in. Man are there a lot of boxes!

A big hi to our family and friends

It has been awhile since I last posted. Needless to say life has been rather hectic. This week Jeff and I closed on our home. This entire process was rather scarey as I had never bought a house before. In typical Genelle fashion I made the builder do three walkthroughts with us :) and of course I was still uphappy with his progress when we closed. The builder though is proving very reliable and is plodding through my punch list of to do’s with no moan or issue. The short of it is that we LOVE the house and I expect we will be very happy there for many years to come.

The movers moved us in this Thursday….what a nightmare ! Several items of our furniture arrived badly chipped or broken and they left the walls in a mess. Thank goodness our builder had agreed to do my final paint touch ups post move. He sent a team of his painters in yesterday and they addressed all my walkthrough concerns as well as fixed the mess caused by the horrid movers. I thought those movers would drive me into instant labor…..NEVER….NEVER…..use Collins Bros Movers. They totally stink !!!!

Well after the ordeal of moving I had very timely arranged for a doctors appointment yesterday which included a measurement of the twins as well as another gestational diabetic (GD) test for me. The twins I am happy to say are looking great. My boy has grown to 4lb 14 ounces and my girl measured in at 4lb 10 ounces. Taking some margin of error into acount both are probably at roughly 4 and a half pounds. Its crazy to think that I am carrying around approx. 9 pounds of baby.

I get my GD test results on Monday. The reason I had to do another test was because a prior ultrasound had found my amniotic fluid to be slightly excessive which might mean late onseat GD or just nothing. All my u/s since then have shown my fluid to be at normal levels but I wanted to be sure so the doctor re-did the test. Otherwise I am doing fine…..am HUGE….and uncomfortable but fine :)

Poor Jeff is juggling caring for me….a sinus infection…..getting the house ready…working…. etc. He went to the doctor this week who put him on a course of antibotics to adddress the infectiion.

Chat soon !

Yeah! The house is MINE! (ok Genelle’s too!). We closed today and the movers are coming tomorrow. Its raining really hard, but is supposed to be sunny the rest of the week. Charlotte is already feeling like fall.
